Zachary, this is Koala.

I believe you may be correct about the natural origins of the structures you are exploring. I still believe there has been some additional "unnatural" work done there, but the rock formations are probably essentially natural.

I read both your and Enoch's reports. Please tell him for me that I am pleased he noticed the material caught on the vehicle and am anxiously awaiting his next report.

Gail, this is Koala.

I agree completely with JASE. Do not give Ms. Chang your control codes. She has proven herself untrustworthy. She will undoubtedly use those codes to do harm to us and the Probe Society.

I believe you have reached your conclusion through faulty logic. You have overlooked the fact that you have the stronger position. You have it because you have information that Ms. Chang wants. She cannot go there (to Mars) to get it, so she must rely upon you. Also, she has no allies there. On the other hand, she has Hamlet which is what you want. But you aren't limited as she is because you have lots of friends here (on Earth) who can act for you.

You, unlike Ms. Chang, are not alone. Becasue of that, you have more options. You do not have to act out of desperation.

If Ms. Chang wanted to punish you, she could stop talking to you or intentionally kill Hamlet. The result would be that you would continue talking to us and, if she did kill him, she would become our target and subject to our retribution.

If you wanted to punish Ms. Chang, you could stop talking to her. What would be the result? No one would talk to her and she would learn nothing more. She can't force you to talk to her because she would suffer the same penalties we discussed above if she were to harm Hamlet to make you talk to her.

She cannot win. In fact, it is in her best interests to keep Hamlet alive and well. As long as he is, the MARSupials will not be likely to take provacative action against her. If she fails to do that, she faces immediate retaliation from us.

You do not have to surrender your control codes to effect Hamlet's release. You do not have to reveal any information to her that you do not want. Tell her nothing she does not already know and make her work hard to get even that from you. Be patient and we will all win.

Gail,

This is JASE. Please, please, please, do NOT give Miss Chang your control codes. Then she would be able to command you to help her find the rest of the MARSupials so that she could imprison and torture the rest of us as well. She might even command you to harm or even kill one of the other probes or the Ipsolstai. I know that you would NOT like that. Surely there must be another way.
