Hello, Gail. It is GrandZero.
Here is an idea for protecting yourself as you cross the open ground.

Carry a rock. If you see a C-probe and he points his weapons array at you, throw the rock very hard back in the direction you came from. Hopefully this will distract it and cause it to fire at the rock. This may give you time to seek cover in the fortress.

Remember since you are not stronger or faster than the C-probes, you must be smarter in order to win an encounter.

Be careful, friend.

Your friend...GrandZero.

Hello, Bette. It is GrandZero.
Please tell us all you can about The One. Also, please describe as much as you can about your surroundings. This would seem to be the most exciting "What's next" game ever.

Hello, Enoch. It is GrandZero.
Some MARSupials (including myself) have been having doubts that what we have been calling C-probes and the C-lander are actually from Earth. We are having difficulty believing that the Chinese could have sent such a large amoung of materials up here. The number "C-probes" that you guys have found would seem to be too much for a single launch from Earth. Your observation of carbon steel construction and the "sun-sail" technology would, however, lend validation to the notion that they actually are from Earth. The reason we are questioning these things is very much like what you have been saying lately -- we don't want to make any incorrect assumptions. (You are certainly a wise probe.) It is important that we know what we are up against if we are going to try and disable the C-Probe system.

Remember, the objective of your mission is to stop the C-probe army. The method discussed most for this is to disable their communications. It appears that the C-probes do not think individually and are controlled remotely. If we can disable their communications we can effectively stop them (we think). Do you see anything that looks like it might be a communications center?

Let's consider what would happen if we destroyed their field of sunsails. Now that might have some possibilities. What do you think?

Guys, my name's Orpheus, and I'm new to the team. Some general advice for all of you. First, always assume that anything involving the C-probes is an immediate threat. Doing this can save you guys considerable grief. Secondly, you guys need to find a way to use natural resources. If you don't, the C-probes will have you hopelessly outclassed. If my hunch is correct, that shed is a factory, using stuff mined from the planet to make more probes. And last, a word of advice from the world's worst wizard: "If in danger, run until out of danger." I know you can't outrun them, but maybe you can get them to make a mistake. Somehow. Maybe.
