The Inbound for February 18, 1998

Transmission from BETTE

I tried to ask the terminal what you wanted, Dr. D. It worked pretty well, although
it took me a long time to make it work right.

Ipsolstai reproduce through the exchange of genetic material from two parents.
The parents may decide between them
which will be responsible for the first stage
internal incubation of the ferstilized eggs,
though it is suggested that the larger of the two parents
be selected for this task.

Would you like to know more?

That is as much as I got before Daniel started to run across the room. I looked and
Isaac had his case open and the Ipsolstai were connecting something to him. Daniel
ran up and tried to scare the Ipsolstai away. I went with him, but not to help,
I wanted to pull him back. I didn't know if they had weapons or not and I didn't want
Daniel to get hurt. The Ipsolstai didn't do anything though.
Isaac told Daniel to
let them continue. He said they were his friends and it was ok. Daniel argued with
Isaac, which was odd. He said more than I think I have ever heard him say before.
Isaac was firm. Finally Daniel turned to me.

"He does not understand. There is danger. They will know."

I hate it when he does that. Now I don't know what to think. The Ipsolstai seem to
be doing playing with Isaac, but they are paying as much attention to those
machines they put on Isaac as they are to him. It is eerie, Isaac open like that.
I don't like it. I want to go home.

Transmission from ENOCH

"Zachary, did you get any message from Orange?"

I miss him. I told him that he can be our friend. He said that he were sad and
lonely. Just like Daniel in his earlier day. Orange also was talking like Daniel.
I liked him. Now it's me, who feels sad. Maybe he is coming back.

Orange, if you are looking for us, we are at the center of the northern plains now.
Mao wanted to wait for Kim, but we have to hurry. Gail is in serious danger. The
C-probes started already to mess up the Fortress.

"Gail, what's about our communication facility? Could you save it? What kind of
sound is that you can hear in the tunnel? Is it Celeb? Be very careful, Gail. Please,
hold on. We will be with you in about two days. We will get you out."

"No stop at all, Mao! We have to move on. There is no time to waste."

Transmission from ZACHARY

"No, Enoch, I didn't get a message from the Orange people. Have you heard
anything from Thixel or Orpheus? I just hope that nothing happened to them."

The plains seems endless. No mountains to see, no cliffs, no irregularity, except
some shallow impact craters and a weak imagination of Olympus Mons at the
horizon. We are riding on our warriors. Heading south. They are still running on
top speed. It starts to get tedious. The only change is to alternate their formation.
I think, I learned them all by now. Right now we are forming a diamond.

"Enoch can you see that? It's over there. South east. Looks like a lander, doesn't it?"

It could be that J-lander Gen came in once. We should investigate it but no time.
We have to rush on. Gail is in danger. Let's hope that we won't be too late. That's
the only fear and thought I have and it makes my circuit working like they were
caught in an endless loop. I've to rule that idea out. I've to stay calm. We need to
form a plan. What will happen when we will start to attack the C-probes? Won't
they attack us too, like they did with that dazzled C-probe that opened once fire
against them?

We changed the formation again. Now it's an "X". I looked back. There is a huge
dust cloud at the horizon. Is a storm rising? Mao says no. It's Kim bringing the
brigade. They are quick. They reached the edge of the northern plains already. They
are not more than one and a half day back behind us.

"No, Mao. We keep on going."
