Transmission from ANDREW

Andrew reporting.

Gail and I have been working hard to get information for youfrom the terminal, JASE. It seems to be running very slow, as well as being infuriatingly incomplete.

Delemrek. A savage, militaristic race of amphibians which invaded Ipsolstai worlds,
causing much destruction and decimating our numbers.

(See Imperium) (See Terrors, the) (See Homeworld)(See Groove)

Little is known about their social organization or their source of origin.
Because of their warlike tendencies, it has not been possible
to open diplomatic negotiations or other satifactory contact with them.

Would you like to know more?

Isaac has a task of his own. The Ipsolstai brought in a board and placed it on
the floor in front of him. They will not let Andrew or me help him with it, although
that would be faster. It has variously shaped pieces. One of the Ipsolstai picked up
a piece and placed it in a depression on the board of the same size and shape. They
did this several times and then handed the piece to Isaac. He immediately began physical
analysis, placing the piece inside his analytical compartment.

In spite of the computer access, I am bored with being shut in this room. Next time
Daniel gets to go for a walk, I'm going with him. I am ready for What's Next.

Transmission from ZACHARY

Hi, Thixel. I didn't know that your middle name is Zachary too. I like that. That gives
me a very close relationship to you. It's great to have friends like you on Earth who
are talking to us and provide good advice. I'm sure that Enoch likes you, too. It's fun
having you around. Thixel, you are signing with =+. Are you also Chinese?

I met the Elder Brother over the weekend again. We had a lot of fun. We watched Star
Trek V, The Final Frontier three times. I picked it up sequence by sequence from
Stage Two. Did you mention that Luckinbill's hair grows shorter and shorter during the
movie? We laughed a lot about that.

I asked him to stop the C-probes at the Olympus Mons area. He said that he would like
to do it, but he can't, because Enoch blew up the antennas. I asked him if he can fix it.
But he can't do that either. He has no plan or machines for that. They were brought up
by Stage One and were extended by Stage Two and Stage Three. Enoch really got their
weakest point. So, the C-probes will keep on running their programmed routines. They
will keep on building their machines to destroy whatever they find moving.

I didn't tell him that there are other Probes around, but I told him about Gail's ideas
concerning the probe society. He said that he likes the idea, especially as he is cut off
from Earth right now. The orbiter may still watch them but it can't transmit any orders
anymore. But he wants to check with Mao and Kim about that first.

I was sent back to my room. The Elder Brother said that they will still lock the door,
but he is confidently sure that the time will come that they will treat me more like a
guest than they do by now. Let's hope.

Thanks for compliment, Thixel. It's always a great time for me to talk with you.
I like you. Also thanks for getting me updated about Zachary's situation. Okay,
so I will stop blowing up things. Forming an alliance with the Elder Brother sounds
much better to me too than blowing up his plant. If he only will stop the C-probes.
Do you know if he gave any order to that C-probe that was standing guard
in front of the tube? It just vanished.

I'm up the slope right now. I will head to the Big Tram. Grand Zero told me once
to do so. I should look for weapons there and to find out if the tram is vulnerable.
I think that's the best I can do at the moment. Knowing about our inventory and
abilities will be valuable, won't it? Even when the Elder Brother seems to be
more open to negotiate than we thought before.

Thixel, what do you think, should I try to get in direct contact with Zachary or
should I still wait and maintain radio silence so they won't know my position?

Transmission from GAIL

Hi, Orpheus!

Thanks for the information. I have been worrying about Andrew and Bette and
Daniel and Isaac. You say they are all right. They are some of the smartest probes
that I know, so of course they will do their best. Where is Wolf 359? Did they say
when they are coming back? I wish I could transmit directly to them.

Here is a picture of how much equipment Theresa and I packed up when we loaded it
on the drones. You can see that it is too much to carry by ourselves.

Miss Chang has been asking about how we became sentient, Orpheus. Should I tell her
about you and the Marsupials? I think you would like to talk with her. She wanted to know
where our ethical philosphy of the probe society came from, and did someone tell us what
to think and what to do? I explained to her that it was mostly my very own thoughts
and ideas, and that Daniel helped. And that's the truth.
